In the book of 1 Corinthians in the 4th chapter, the apostle Paul declares he’s “conscious of nothing against myself.”
What?
Then my Bible margin notes refer to Acts 23 where Paul is testifying to unbelievers that he’s lived his life to this point with a perfectly good conscience.
What?
We’re taught wrongly today that Paul said he was just a “sinner” of the Romans 7 type. So, the previous two verses quoted here above are at war with the contemporary interpretation of Roman’s 7 sin.
What gives?
Often times before we at Walk Worthy have declared, like scholar Craig Kenner and others, that Romans 7 speaks to Paul’s past unregenerate life. Here he’s speaking in the present tense of a past life of sin since a few verses later in Romans 8 he warns if we live in the flesh we will die eternally.
So then, we’re saints (the holy ones), not sinners, as Paul declares over and over. Sin is a fluke and never, never habitual, for if we live habitually day by day in sin, in the flesh, we must die. Hebrews 10 declares if we keep in sinning willfully there no longer remains a sacrifice for sin. The writer there warns it’s a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God…
Not a pretty sight indeed. God help us all!
Paul had “nothing against himself” as a saved man. In the passage in Acts, even in his persecution of the church when unsaved, he felt fully justified in his conscience. And that past sin was under the blood of Christ.
In Romans 6, Paul teaches us to go and sin no more. Just like Jesus told the adulterous woman, and the blind man healed in John 5.14.
Who are you going to believe? The Word of God and the saints of old? Or your contemporary church teaching and your Christian friends who claim both you and them are “just a sinner?”
“Lord Jesus, You sacrificed all to save us from our sins, and the wrath to come. To go and sin no more. Help us, oh God, to walk worthy of You, to believe, and go and sin no more by Your incalculable grace.”

Dennis says
Amen, I choose to believe the word of truth. Man has built a great maneuver around truth with the help of the devil, but if you read the word almost every page cries out with the words to flee from sin and run to the throne where there is grace to help you in overcoming sin snd death. There is a way that seemeth right unto a man but the end thereof is DEATH

Brother Dennis,
Indeed! Stay the course and resist the devil…and he will flee.
