The King of kings and Lord of lords, Savior of the whole wide world, Master, Creator proclaimed no one can serve both God and wealth. It’s impossible. Jesus Christ spent more time collectively in the gospel of His kingdom proclaiming this truth and confronting all abuses with it. It’s estimated at least 15% of all content in the Gospels deals this this one subject.
All things are possible, Jesus told His first disciples, when they were incredulous that the rich young ruler (shown at the left with Jesus) was headed for hell and the lake of fire. Was Jesus Christ a “legalist” demanding this wealthy young person to give up all money he had before salvation? Even camels like us can make it through the eye of the needle if we truly truly desire to obey and follow this Man called God.
To ignore or willfully disobey will end us up in the same eternal torment as the rich young ruler, the rich fool, and the Pharisees who were lovers of money (Luke 16) as they scoffed at their Creator. Paul warned Timothy that with food and covering we were to be content.
THE EVILS OF WEALTH – THE HARD SAYINGS OF JESUS [AT THE BATTLE FRONT 11]
Most of us who live in affluent areas are most likely idolaters, for we’re greedily wanting more and more not being content with food and covering. This is as serious as it gets. I don’t want miss my Savior’s heart and be sent to hell as an idolator when I thought I was pleasing Him in all respects. So, I reckon my old man dead, and strive to live in the Spirit. ONE SAINT’S FIGHT AGAINST MAMMON [MONDAY MANNA 100]
Jordan Hogan read the quote for the third time, swallowing hard, wondering to himself if it was just him who felt butterflies in his stomach over this article. I’m certain, he mused, that this is the work of the Holy Spirit. I’m dying to know what Kristie is feeling.
Kristie, his wife, was really the instigator of this most holy work of God. She had been reading a series of Christian articles entitled “The Fight Against Mammon” that were given to her by a disgruntled fellow saint in her home group that actually despised…(to read more, click link above)
PRIORITIES IN GIVING MONEY TO APOSTLES, PREACHERS, TEACHERS, & MERCY MINISTRY [RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD 17]
In the early 90’s we were involved in giving money monthly to World Vision to support a young boy of 10 or so. He was located on the island of Bali in the nation of Indonesia. It was our first real foray into this type of mercy ministry. The organization sent us the obligatory picture to pin on our world map in the living room, along with some brief biographical background. I remember being so thrilled that we were…(to read more, click the link above)
THE PECULIAR BLESSINGS OF POVERTY [AT THE BATTLE FRONT 22]
When I was first saved in 1987, I noticed that at least one sincere question asked of others in the faith could raise their eyebrows, get them often to pass the buck, and/or just plain cause them to slink away. The question was: Why does the Bible and most of Christian history show us that selling our possessions and helping the less fortunate is being obedient to Jesus? I’ve been collecting…(to read more, click link above)

THROUGH THE NEEDLE’S EYE – PURCHASE BOOK
So, what does the Word of God teach us from the Old Covenant through the New Covenant about money, mammon, and our role as Jesus’ kingdom citizens? David Servant has written one of the best and most thorough books on the subject. Nothing is impossible to God declares our Master. So, as a fellow “camel” we’re trusting God to help us obey and make it through the needle’s eye…
