WHAT IS “WRANGLING ABOUT WORDS?” [RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD 5]

Holy ones of God, If you’ve been prophesying to and admonishing the brethren in your Christian life for any time to help present them complete (perfectly mature) in Christ (Col. 1.28), you’ll quickly observe another carnal phenomenon. Is the truth and power of God’s word again being perverted by His children? You must be the judge. Ok, here’s how it goes: 1)   you proclaim (not “share”) a truth as you see it from the Holy Spirit. 2)   This proclaimed truth can be originated by you or in response to some half-truth or blatant error. 3)   You loving heart is concerned or gripped by the fact that God’s flock is straying or is strayed from His truth and even eternal destinies are in the balance. 4)   Your truth is rejected, or maligned, or despised, or all three, without any searching together in God’s Word to confirm your truth, or prove their [...]

IDENTIFYING STONEWALLERS WHO BLOCK YOUR TRUTH [DEAR BRETHREN 4]

Dear brother Marc, I’m really frustrated with certain people in my church and family. They just won’t listen to any other opinion on how God may what us to think or act. And then they blame me for not agreeing with them. Man, they’re pushy. Could they be those stonewallers you’re talking about? I want to be a seeker, but these Christians have me wondering. They seem to attack when you question anything they say. What gives?   Dear brother, Thanks for your courage in connecting. No, brother, you’re not alone or losing your mind! As a good friend and brother describes, this phenomenon we know as stonewalling is pandemic. He goes on to say almost all Christians are on auto-pilot. I’d add that any honorable discussion is made undiscussable. And their undiscussability is also made undiscussable. It’s their way or the highway. And…they depreciate you along the way making [...]

ARE WE LIKE THEM? “THEY’RE A ONE WAY THINKER” [FRIDAY FIRE 71]

Just this past week we met with a brand new saint again, recently repentant and  baptized in a local lake by a Christian brother he works with. He’s full of the joy of Jesus, but struggling with the stonewallers in his life! He was recounting to us in tears how his parents depreciated and even beat him at times while growing up. And even to this day he suffers at the hands of his mother, a so-called Christian. She proclaimed he was in error  since he wasn’t baptized in a church building, by an “ordained preacher,” neither of which is found in the New Testament record. Our new brother then said quite naturally “they’re a one-way thinker.” Oh my. What an indictment. I was struck by his simple, clear, expression. As little-Christ’s (the real meaning of the word Christian), we need the Spirit to lead us to be honorable in [...]
