QUOTES 51-60 [KINGDOM QUOTES: 10 MEMORABLE QUOTATIONS]

September 8, 2020 by jesusislord Leave a Comment

KQ 51. God’s favorite colors are blue (sky and sea) and green (forest and field). Isn’t it marvelous that many of us enjoy the same through His gracious favor?

KQ 52. There’s only one trumpet and one return of Christ, at the end of The Great Tribulation.

KQ 53. There’s no simple way to express the profound influence fathers and grandfathers have their daughters and granddaughters. After our #1 ministry to our wives, there’s nothing of more significance to these girls, and our sons and grandsons too. Contact us to learn more about how to walk this out with the help of true believers led by the Holy Spirit!

KQ 54. Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. John Adams, Vice President to George Washington, & 2nd President of the United States

KQ 55. Mercy ministry is practically worthless unless strongly coupled with the whole truth of Christ including His wrath to come.

KQ 56. A few verses in the Bible here and there that may appear be out of chronological order in no way negates or diminishes the authenticity and accuracy of the Word. There’s plenty of truth contained in the Word for glorious salvation and holy living as we endure to the end!

KQ 57. All real Christians smell, for they emit an aroma to all around them. For some, it’s the sweet aroma of the fragrance of Christ to God that’s from life to life. To the vast majority headed through the wide gate of eternal destruction, it’s a repugnant odor, the aroma from death to death. If these two reactions are not seen in your life repeatedly, then you’re either not saved or have drifted into no-man’s land toward apostasy.

KQ 58. Some of us are wondering and distressed why many popular and so-called Christian personalities who deliver at best a compromised gospel message appear to have a great and growing following. What is that to us? Even if in God’s sovereignty only one soul finds the true and whole truth through our consistent courage, is that not enough to fill our sails with the joy of Him? We must follow Him…no matter what storms and heartache. You are beloved in the Christ! The Word still speaks today…So Peter seeing him said to Jesus, “Lord, and what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!” (John 21:21-22 NASB)

KQ 59. The whole counsel of the kingdom gospel is clear. If you proclaim it at all then you need to proclaim it all.

KQ 60. Truth authors real science. It’s not truth or science, an either-or, but it’s truth and science, a both-and. Jesus Christ is Truth…therefore the Author of all truthful science for He is the Creator God!

WHAT IS “GREAT” TO GOD? AMERICA? OR SOMETHING ELSE? [RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD 33]

June 19, 2020 by jesusislord Leave a Comment

Great is the Lord

Holy ones,

In order for something to be considered “great” in a culture, it’s always compared to another thing. Usually, we see a positive relationship when referring to the word itself. But the word “great” can also be quite negative in its usage as we shall see.

If positive, the comparison is made to something negative like the ordinary, minute,  poor, or awful. If negative, the comparison is made to something positive like the normal, wonderful, or extraordinary.

This positive or negative “greatness” can usually be categorized as 1) an inanimate physical structure or condition of nature, such as the great Rocky Mountain range, a great skyscraper, or great destruction from a hurricane, or 2) a human person, group, or condition such as a great leader, great organization, great nation, or great genocide like that foisted upon the native Americans, or 3) a spiritual person, group, or condition such as the great Moses, a great religious movement like the Anabaptists, or great spiritual deception described in the Bible.

Lately, here in the west we hear an awful lot about America being “great” or becoming “great again.” This positive comparison implies that somewhere along the way in its history it attained to such a lofty status in the eyes of some of the culture. This description fits into the second category above.

Again, the spiritual litmus test is what does God think about all this.

In God’s Holy Bible, there’s over 770 references to the English word described as “great.” Great in the Old Testament occurs over 500 times.  Great in the New Testament occurs over 180 times.

So following the Holy Spirit led authors of the 66 books, it shouldn’t be too terribly hard to determine what is “great” to God. After all, it’s His world. It’s His air we breathe. It’s His sun and rain that brings both food and animals to eat. It’s in His kingdom that He graciously allows us to bear fruit so He may reward us for eternity. Amazing, actually.

God is the author of pleasure. The doctrine of bringing Him pleasure in all things we do in life is well documented. Here’s just one clue.

Colossians 1:9-12  For this reason (your love in the Spirit) also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

Now, to clearly know the heart of God and what brings Him pleasure, we dive into the Scriptures for a thorough peek at the evidence. It’s never up to us to determine what’s “great” in God’s world. The place to begin this discovery is with the Lord Jesus and His very words.

Jesus talks about greatness

The Name from the burning bush

We begin with the “greatest” body of Christ’s teachings in Matthew 5-7, the teaching by the sea. We encounter five passages here.

  1. Our reward in heaven is great when we’re insulted, persecuted, and evil spoken against us for His Name’s sake. And we can rejoice and be glad for this special privilege.

Matthew 5:11-12  “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great (Greek word = polus); for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you…”

  1. We’re called great in the kingdom of heaven, both now and eternally, for keeping (guarding) and teaching Christ’s commandments.

Matthew 5:19  “Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great (Greek word = megas) in the kingdom of heaven…”

  1. The King is great.

Matthew 5:34-35  “But I say to you, make no oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet, or by Jerusalem, for it is THE CITY OF THE GREAT (Greek word = megas) KING…”

  1. Negatively, a person’s life is full of great darkness if they’re deceived by mammon.

Matthew 6:22-23  “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!..”

  1. In contrast to the wise man who built his spiritual house on the rock of Christ, we see the foolish man in a negative light, and heading to the lake of eternal fire.

Matthew 7:26-27  “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great (Greek word = megas) was its fall.”

Other teachings of Jesus mince no words as well. We find great faith, a great storm, one pearl of great value, and the greatest commandment.

Matthew 8:10  Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel…”

Matthew 15:28  Then Jesus said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed at once.

Matthew 8:23-24  When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep.

Matthew 13:45-46  “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it…”

Matthew 22:38  “This is the great and foremost commandment.

Many great things are described

The Creator of all things

We see the great love and mercy of God.

Ephesians 2:4  But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

1 Peter 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1 John 3:1  See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Jesus the Father’s Christ is certainly great.

Luke 1:32  “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;

Titus 2:13  looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,

Hebrews 13:20  Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord,

We see the great things of God.

Mark 5:19  And He did not let him, but He said to him, “Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.”

Mark 5:20  And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.

Luke 1:49  “For the Mighty One has done great things for me; And holy is His name.

Revelation 15:3  And they sang the song of Moses, the bond-servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and marvelous are Your works, O Lord God, the Almighty; Righteous and true are Your ways, King of the nations!

We see great men like Paul having great confidence.

2 Corinthians 7:4  Great is my confidence in you; great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort; I am overflowing with joy in all our affliction.

2 Corinthians 8:22  We have sent with them our brother, whom we have often tested and found diligent in many things, but now even more diligent because of his great confidence in you.

Hebrews 7:4  Now observe how great this man was (Melchizedek, king of Salem) who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils.

Lost and unsaved great men are always described in a negative light.

Matthew 20:25  But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them.

Revelation 6:15  Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;

Fear God, not man

Great fear comes upon the church when God kills liars among His holy ones.

Acts 5:5  And as he heard these words, Ananias fell down and breathed his last; and great fear came over all who heard of it.

Acts 5:11  And great fear came over the whole church, and over all who heard of these things.

Great joy is the response of real saints.

Matthew 28:8  And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples.

Acts 15:3  Therefore, being sent on their way by the church, they were passing through both Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion of the Gentiles, and were bringing great joy to all the brethren.

Great rewards are awarded for serving and suffering for Christ, i.e. being persecuted and loving your enemies, or conversely the great judgment of His wrath.

Luke 6:23  “Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets.

Luke 6:35  “But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

Revelation 20:11  Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.

The end times of the great tribulation and Christ’s return at the end of it are described in detail.

The four horsemen of Revelation

Matthew 24:21  “For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.

Matthew 24:24  “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

Luke 21:11  and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

Revelation 7:14  I said to him, “My lord, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Matthew 24:30  “And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory.

Matthew 24:31  “And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

If you choose to review all the passages you’ll discover other areas mentioned as great.

Great nations?

Now…do we find any reference at all to a “great” nation in the New Testament?

No.

Do we find any reference to a nation at all in the New Testament?

Yes.

All the nations…all of them…and their great men who lord their authority over people at the end of time are deceived by the sorcery of Babylon, the whore, the great city. Deceived by sorcery…the sorcery of witchcraft.

Revelation 18:23  and the light of a lamp will not shine in you (Babylon) any longer; and the voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer; for your merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery.

Mr Vaccine, Bill Gates, works with the Rockefellers to help bring in COVID-19, “the right major crisis”

That includes America. Yes, that’s right. God says America will also be deceived by the sorcery of the whore, the great city Babylon. In the end, America will be folded right into the New World Order and its antichrist. You can count on it, beloved.

The Illuminati all-seeing-eye atop the Masonic pyramid on the back of the dollar bill

Let’s remember that America was founded on greed and genocide. It was founded on the occult by lost pagan founding fathers. Multiple resources exist to prove this fact. Modern American leaders too bear the sword to avenge wrong. But they’re sworn to kill their enemies. And this is mostly an aggressive and pugnacious  worldwide  offensive, not the simple defense of its borders.   Those who live by the sword will die by the sword.

America was never “great” in God’s eyes. It’ll never be great in His eyes. The fact that countless so-called Christians parrot a lie that America was founded on Judeo-Christian values doesn’t negate the actual truth. The Lord Jesus has used evil pagan America where He can to further His kingdom, His eternal purpose. But in the end, He’ll pour our His wrath on this nation too and slaughter all His enemies that reside there and refuse His holy love.

The occult mantra of “making America great again” is just that…a mantra. It’s from the pit of hell, and it’s demonic. Remember: all wars are bankers wars.

If you’ve fallen for that satanic strategy of MAGA then repent, dear one. Follow the real God, the God Who Is, not the false American gospel. Not the New Trinity and its baby manger Jesus.

Great in God’s eyes

Great encouragement is found in the holy Scriptures that we all can be great in God’s eyes. What wonderful news! It comes only through sacrificial service as a true servant, and never through selfish service. It’ll cost you…and indeed you must count the cost of true discipleship as we bear our own cross.

Matthew 20:26  “It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant…”

Let us bring our Lord Jesus our most precious gift, the one which brings Him loving pleasure.

Our faithful and undying holy life…our obedience.

1 Peter 1:14-17  As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.” If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth…

Hebrews 10:35-39  Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. FOR YET IN A VERY LITTLE WHILE, HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME, AND WILL NOT DELAY. BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM. But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.

THE TIMING OF JESUS’ SECOND COMING [RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD 32]

June 16, 2020 by jesusislord Leave a Comment

His eyes are like flames of fire

Beloved,

For those precious few of us who eagerly look for and anticipate the return of our dear Lord Jesus and His kingdom, these are both exciting, and troubling, times! As we proclaim here at Walk Worthy, we’re one day closer to Home and Him. This passage below is the normal and customary response to a kingdom citizen.

Philippians 3:20  For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ…

Now then, by no means is this piece intended to be an exhaustive study and presentation of Christ’s second coming but only on the signs, timing, and our response to them. But we do think this will contribute to the growing body of truth about this most vital doctrine and event.

The Scripture describing the great and terrible day of the Lord is for another time altogether.

Correct Bible interpretation, or hermeneutics

Rightly dividing the Word

Any serious understanding of God’s heart begins with a careful and thorough plumbing of the Holy Bible. Correct and wise Biblical interpretation must include all the pertinent passages combined with an open heart for the true truth…not just an agenda to confirm a current bias.

In our master Bible interpretation teaching, we recall Point 20: Specific-Clear-Consistent-Context, then General-Isolated-Sporadic. We quote from that teaching:

We need to carefully look at the specific, the clear, the consistent, and in their rightful context. Biblical context means discovering the whole passage and idea surrounding the doctrine or story being declared. Take the wrong doctrine that is universally taught in the west that believers are “sinners.” The crowd that plays this fiddle takes the isolated and sporadic verse from Paul in Romans 7 and 1 Timothy 1. But these passages refer to his past life as a pagan!

We must also always remember the Bible is a high context document written by ancient writers thousands of years ago. In other words, only a minimum number of details appears in our modern Bible. For instance, there’s absolutely no description of the heinous act of crucifixion. And the only place that marriage vows exist is in the Old Testament in Exodus 21!

The Signs of Christ’s Second Coming

First, there are signs leading up to His return. Those described are false Christs, wars and rumors of more wars, famines and earthquakes, arrest and death, believers who betray others and fall away (apostate), misleading false prophets, increasing lawlessness leading to disillusionment and loss of enduring love.

Matthew 24:4-5  And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many…”

Matthew 24:6  “You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end…”

Matthew 24:7-8  “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs…”

Matthew 24:9  “Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name…”

Matthew 24:10  “At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another…”

Matthew 24:11  “Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many…”

Matthew 24:12  “Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold…”

The Greatest Tribulation in all history

The four horsemen of the apocalypse

Second, Jesus Himself and others taught about The Great Tribulation of that time period that certainly stood out from other past tribulations.

Matthew 24:21  “For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will…

Revelation 7:13-14  Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?”

I said to him, “My lord, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb…

Daniel 12:1  “Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress (tribulation) such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued.

The last trumpet

The Last Trumpet

The Bible speaks plainly that Christ’s coming will be at the last trump, or the last trumpet. We can comfort one another with these encouraging words as the dark and foreboding days close in upon us.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52  Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the (last) trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the (last) trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.  Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Revelation 11:15  Then the seventh angel sounded (with the last trumpet); and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”

As scholar Craig Keener points out, Biblical tradition employed the trumpet for proclamation for kingship, triumph, and worship.

Please notice nowhere here does the Word indicate there are two trumpets in relation to the second coming. There’s no second and third coming. There’s only one final trumpet. He comes once. That’s it. And that’s enough!

Pre, Mid, or Post Tribulation timing

One of the most hotly debated topics in Christendom is whether He’s coming back before or after The Great Tribulation. Is it pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, or post-tribulation? Whatever it is, we all should agree. Never agree to disagree. Never. That’s a heinous sin to our great and gracious God.

When I was first saved, all the Bible teachers that were thrust in front of me taught a pre-tribulation second coming as a part of complete dispensational doctrine. In other words, they boldly stated that Jesus would come back for His saints before The Great Tribulation.

As I closely followed their line of reasoning, it became clear that their position fully rested on the argument that since the saints would not endure the wrath of God, they had to be “raptured” out of The Great Tribulation.

1 Thessalonians 1:10  …and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come.

So, does the Word of God clearly state any connection between the end of The Great Tribulation and the timing of Jesus’ Second (and final) Coming?

Yes.

Matthew 24:29-31  “But immediately after the (great) tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

“And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory.

“And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT (Last) TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

But, one might protest, if this is the case what about escaping the wrath of God?

Let’s observe several things. In the Old Testament, God preserved His saints through His wrath aimed at His enemies although the saints were not a part of it. Persecution alone and even death by martyrdom is not wrath as evidenced by the martyrdom of millions of saints throughout history.

The seventh or last trumpet is blown in Revelation 11.15. Although some Bible events are not chronological (see Jeremiah and Daniel for instance), it’s noteworthy that in Revelation 6 the saints under the altar are crying out for God to avenge their blood after the breaking of the sixth seal. And His response?

Revelation 6:9-11  When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

And there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be completed also.

Now, we see more saints are killed and martyred during The Great Tribulation that must join these under the altar. If the wrath of God is poured out during this time as the pre-tribulation rapture camp suggests, then how can these saints still live under this “wrath” waiting to be killed?

Their position makes absolutely no sense. Zero.

What is our response to all this?

We already know from the get-go here we’re to be eager for our Lord Christ’s return. But what else is required?

Matthew 24:36-42  “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah.

“For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

“Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.

“Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.

Keep on the alert

Be on the alert…always.

Matthew 24:43-44  “But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.

“For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.

No one knows when a thief will make his entrance, do they?

Matthew 24:45-51  “Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes. Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

“But if that evil slave says in his heart, ‘My master is not coming for a long time,’  and begins to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with drunkards; the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour which he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Did you carefully see that? Being cut in pieces and assigned a place with the “hypocrites” – the cursed lost, the unbelievers. The slave-saint was foolishly caught unaware and not on the alert. Probably being disobedient to his Creator all the while caught up in church activities.

In other words, according to Keener in his Matthew commentary, page 601:

…by failing the master’s trust, he insults the master…Disciples who neglect the resources entrusted to them in this life will be damned.

Notice that the parable of the separation of the sheep and goats follows immediately thereafter.

The righteous acts of the saints

Without holiness no one will see the Lord

So, therefore, the timing of Jesus Christ’s Second Coming is important, but not near as important as being ready. And clothed in the righteous acts of the saints, your works.

Revelation 19:7-8  “Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

The spiritually one year old Thessalonians were living boldly for Christ and were even suffering martyrdom.

2 Thessalonians 1:4-5  …therefore, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure. This is a plain indication of God’s righteous judgment so that you will be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering.

And the fate of those who spurn this admonition unlike the holy Thessalonians?

2 Thessalonians 1:6-9  For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power…

Maranatha, Lord Jesus.

Daniel 7:13-14  “I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, and He came up to the Ancient of Days (the Father) and was presented before Him.

“And to Him was given dominion, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away; and His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed.
